Just three collections in, Nigerian born, Canadian designer ESÉ AZÉNABOR, readies her newest collection to debut this season for New York Fashion Week. The young atelier’s previous collections were inspired by the old world glamour from some of history’s most opulent tales, such as “Phantom of the Opera” and “A Mid Summer’s Night Dream”. Shown in both the Ready-to-wear and Haute Couture collections, the Esé Azénabor design aesthetic imbues intricacy of hand-sown beading and the sourcing of premium pure silks, luxurious nylons and Italian lace.
The Fall/Winter 2015 Esé Azénabor collection is an unapologetic artistic demonstration of luxury, culture and appreciation for the arts. The collection is inspired by the kingship of Henry VIII, and the affluent monarchs of that era, featuring embroidered Jacquard, rich dark tones and brocade fabrications. “The first time I saw the painting of Henry VIII, I was attracted to the gorgeous details of his garments,” says Azénabor. “We thought to create a collection inspired by his era in a modernized women's luxury ready-to-wear and couture collection”.
